Dewar's Special Reserve Scotch Whisky 12 year old
In 1846, Dewar's first master blender employed a method of handcrafting whisky, creating John Dewar and Sons' most treasured blend. After carefully blending selected quality malt and grain whiskies (each of which was at least 12 years old), the master blender - When satisfied with his creation-would "marry" the resulting blend.
The Marrying Process
The extra step of marrying meant leaving the whisky to rest in oak casks where through time the individual flavours came together and developed a perfect balance with a unique flavour. The outcome was a thoroughly robust, unbelievably smooth blended scotch whisky.
Through this extra process the various whiskies harmonised to become a grander and smoother deluxe whisky; the final product only being released by the master blender under his watchful eye in limited quantities when his years of experience told him it was ready. That kind of skill and knowledge has been passed down only from master blender to master blender over successive generations.
And now John Dewar and Sons employs the same special process from over 100 years ago to create a truly unique blend for today's discerning scotch whisky drinker. It's a harmonious blend we call DEWAR'S 12 Year Old. DEWAR'S 12 delivers full flavour and smoothness without compromise. Rounded. Balanced. No protruding notes. Just a long, clean and pleasant finish that is exceptionally rich and warm to the palate.
Limited Issue
Because it's a hand-crafted whisky - No mass production for this Special Reserve - only limited quantities of DEWAR'S 12 Year Old are created each year. And just like the days of yore, only when the master blender deems it ready is it released. To mark its restricted availability, bottles of DEWAR'S 12 are embossed with the Dewar's marrying symbol and are individually numbered at the source. The authenticity of our most treasured whisky is assured on each and every bottle.
