There is no actual, written or documented recipe for DEWAR'S WHITE LABEL. The secret of blending is passed down from one Master Blender to another. There have been exactly five Dewar's Master Blenders during the 150-year company history. Because the human palate is limited to tasting only sweet, salty, sour and bitter, the Master Blender uses his far more sophisticated sense of smell to "nose" the complex aromas of a matured whisky blend. By law, scotch whisky must be aged in oak casks for at least three years. All this time, the cask itself and the air that passes through it nurture and mellow the whisky's flavor. Upon his authority the Master Blender determines when DEWAR'S WHITE LABEL is fully matured and ready for bottling.
