Paringa Estate Shiraz 2003

Red   BN#148909
Varietal Syrah
Category Red Wine
Region Australia : South Australia
Producer Paringa
Alcohol 13.7%

The bouquet and palate has Paringa's distinctive pepper/spice characters combined with ripe blackberry and plum fruit flavours. These fruit flavours are supported by subtle charry French Oak and noticeable fine grained tannins that will gradually soften with bottle development. An elegant cool climate Shiraz that can be enjoyed young but will reward careful cellaring (6 to 10 years bottle age recommended).

Wine Advocate The 2003 Shiraz's (only cropped at a measly 6 tons of fruit per acre) deep ruby color is accompanied by sweet aromas of ripe cherries, berries, smoke, and pepper. With good ripeness, medium body, and a soft, supple texture, it can be enjoyed now and over the next 2-3 years. Score: 87. —Robert Parker, October 2004.

Wine Spectator Soft, with appealing oak-scented currant and plum flavors that linger, finishing with fine-grained tannins. Score: 87. —Harvey Steiman, September 15, 2004.
