Beringer Alluvium White 2006
The proprietary Alluvium name pays homage to the alluvial soils of Knights Valley and, as a blend enables us to select the best blend of white varietals from vintage to vintage. For the 2006 Alluvium Blanc, bright citrus, nectarine and melon aromas lead into a mouth coating creaminess balanced by bright fruit characteristics with hints of toasty oak, honey and lemon zest. This wine reminds me of a fig tart with just a touch of sweetness.
Wine Spectator Offers wonderful purity of fruit, with a rich, vibrant beam of tangerine, nectarine and subtle pear shadings. Finishes with a long, clean aftertaste, which shows a hint of sage. Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier. This blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and a dollop of Chardonnay, and even Viognier in certain vintages, is a distinctive, dry, medium to full-bodied white revealing notes of lemon grass, honeysuckle, nectarines, and waxy figs.
