Email Beer Specials for 04/05

Greetings!

Dan Chacon has selected a few great beers and added them to his Email Beer List. Here is some information on a couple of those beers:

Alaskan Birch Bock- The pilot series from Alaskan is their brewers outlet to get creative and craft beers a little outside the box. Here they have taken a Dopplebock and added birch syrup to it. It pours a dark mahogany color with a one finger tan head. On the nose you get lots of malt (sweet and roasted) along with hints of brown sugar and banana. The palate follows suit as you would assume being a dopplebock but you get touches of earthy semi sweet syrup on the finish. It is medium heavy in body with a smooth mouth feel and light carbonation. ABV is hidden well! Nicely done! 8.5% abv 20 IBUs

St Martin Brune- Here is another Belgian beer that is a little less known but deserves notice. This Belgian dubbel pours a hazy deep brown color with a large creamy off white head. Aromas of prune and raisin come through alongside bready yeast and hints of candi sugar. On the palate the bready yeast is a lot more forward with the dark fruits, candi sugar and hints of caramel and molasses all mingling together nicely behind. The body on this one is medium as is the carbonation while the finish is a touch dry making it go down pretty easily. 8% abv
