2009 Cameron Hughes Lot 250 Napa Meritage - Lot 250 has a lovely, peppery nose of raspberries and plum skin. Saturated black cherry and fresh acidity provide structure to this delicious fruit bomb. With great fruit, acid, and a killer structure, this wine presents Napa in a great package. Wicked good.
The Lot 250 comes to us from one of Napa's premiere Cabernet producers with prices in the $50-$200/bottle range. What we have here in the bottle are, to be quite frank, wines that didn't make the cut for their high-end programs and have trickled their way down to us. Cameron bought the base Meritage blend last fall for a great price and then polished out the blend before racking it back into barrels for more aging. The finished wine is a dynamite deal - Napa Valley Meritage from some seriously pedigreed producers for a song.
