The Carlo Pellegrino company was founded in 1880 and its economic growth has been parallel to the spreading of Marsala's fame throughout the world. It has a capital of 2.400.000 Italian lire (control of the company is held by the founding family heirs).
The company has two production units:
-One main winery located in Marsala, over a surface of about 30.000 square metres. This site has a storage capability of up 200.000 hl (40.000 of which are in oak barrels) and a bottling line with a maximum capacity of 12.000 bottles per hour.
-One modern cellar on the island of Pantelleria where the firm has invested enormous resources with the objective of rebuilding the production of the well-known Moscato and Passito Pantelleria Doc
The Pellegrino company has always valued the importance of the soil. The company owns over 400 hectares of vineyard with vines located in various sites; a kaleidoscope of soil microclimate and exposures.es.
The key to success from 1880 until today has always been the same; an open air workshop to select the best grapes. The vines are grown under family control following only one philosophy: to produce the best.
In the winery the investment has been considerable and has enabled the company to be technically advanced and the oak barrel expenditure has been impressive. The company has also been forward thinking by re-developing the Pantelleria market.
