Masi Tupungato Passo Doble 2015
|Region||Argentina, Mendoza, Tupungato|
Wine EnthusiastGritty aromas of grilled beef and berry fruits are blocky. This Veneto-style blend of Malbec with 15% Corvina feels flush and grabby, but not smooth due to rubbery tannins. Oaky, blackened-berry flavors are generic, while an oaky note of clove comes up on a scratchy finish.
Wine AdvocateI found a common profile of tempera paint, leather, Chinese ink, licorice and cured meat in both of the red wines I tasted from Masi Tupungato, including the Ripasso 2015 Passo Doble. The palate reveals receding fruit, like it's drying out. It's a blend of Malbec with 30% Corbina that aged in French oak casks for nine months. 450,000 bottles produced.
