The wine opens with fresh red fruits aromas, light floral accents and notes of Asian spices. The palate is mouth-filling and lush with juicy primary fruit such as cherry and pomegranate balanced with an earthy complexity. Vibrant acidity and supple tannins support the flavors through a long, satisfying finish. Sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Vibrant and precise, with lively cherry and pomegranate flavors accented by green tea hints, finishing on a lively, crisp note. Drink now through 2023. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
Light to medium ruby-purple in color, the 2016 Two Messengers Pinot Noir opens with a touch of reduction over dark, rich scents of ripe black cherries and currants with chocolate-covered blueberries plus notions of smoke and forest floor-this is quite earthy on the nose. Medium to full-bodied and rich in the mouth, with plenty of black and blue fruit flavors and very firm tannins, it's a touch austere, with nice balancing lift, finishing long. This will benefit from decanting.
Tight and tannic, this sits on the wild, herbal side of the line. Tart berry and pomegranate fruit is followed with tannins that still bear a touch of green character. The finish brings green-tea and bitter coffee notes. But overall, it's a sturdy wine that should handle heartier meat dishes.
