Rosso di Montepulciano achieved the DOC classification in 1989. It can be produced by simply downgrading grapes that are classified as Vino Nobile. In our Winery however, we decided not to compromise. We selected a number of vineyards with particular characteristics in order to obtain a wine that is young, fruity, full-bodied but not hard; a selection that has allowed us to classify our Rosso di Montepulciano as the "Second Wine" of the Poliziano Winery.

Wine SpectatorThis red opens with ripe plum and cherry fruit, yet it also has a brooding side. Firm tannins provide support, while earth and iron elements add depth. Best from 2018 through 2023. 17,000 cases made.

Wine AdvocateVintners across Tuscany marveled at the picture-perfect fruit obtained in this classic vintage. The 2015 Rosso di Montepulciano is executed in both wood and cement vats. The wine is composed of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot, and the first vintage made was 1989. Fruit comes from the estate's youngest vines. It is not bottled at one time. Instead, bottling occurs over six sessions. This is a light and informal red with dark fruit and smoky afternotes. The palate is full and generous. Some 250,000 bottles were made.
