Mendel Lunta Malbec 2016 Bottle
|Region||Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo|
Wine AdvocateThe 2016 Lunta Malbec mixes grapes from old Malbec vineyards planted in 1928 in Mayor Drummond in Luján de Cuyo that yielded some 7,500 kilos of grapes per hectare. It fermented in stainless steel vats, and half of the wine was kept in those vats, while the other half matured in second and third use French oak barriques for 12 months. It might have less concentration and structure, but the wine has very good freshness. It was cropped from an extremely rainy vintage, which caused some issues; fortunately, it was also cold, so there was not much botrytis (there was quite a lot of mildew, though)-a clear El Niño vintage. It's very fruit-driven and juicy, pleasant and balanced. 85,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2017.
All sizes are 750ml unless otherwise stated.
