Juicy and ripe, the nose has character and a certain rusticity. The palate is lush, round, juicy, and full, showing good balance and acidity. It's quite approachable now, but it also has stuffing to age.

The 2017 Tonel 78 Barrel Select isn't as closed as the 2016 I tasted last time. It is terribly balanced, very pure and integrated and more insinuating than in-your-face. This is a superb blend of Malbec and 35% Bonarda with lots of character and very good freshness.
