Appearance: Deep garnet red with bright hues which naturally evolve with age. Bouquet: Intense, very complex, offering a wide range of notes; with remarkable red fruit combined with floral and spicy hints. Especially after a few years of ageing, this Barolo shows all the elegance and charm that only Nebbiolo grapes can offer. Flavour: Robust, rich and austere. It perfectly reflects the great complexity of the soil in Serralunga d'Alba. The perfect Barolo for long ageing. The elegant companion for important rice and pasta dishes, such as risotto cooked in Barolo, and rich and tasty main courses, such as roast meats. After a few years of ageing, this Barolo expresses its considerable potential just as well when sipped as a wine for thought and served with hard and medium-hard cheeses.

Wine EnthusiastStructured and focused, this gorgeous wine offers enticing scents of pressed violet, woodland berry, baking spice, tilled soil and leather. The firm palate delivers ripe black cherry, licorice, mint, tobacco and ground clove alongside youthfully assertive but refined tannins. Give this time to fully develop-it should blossom into a beauty. Drink 2018-2026.

Wine AdvocateMassolino's 2011 Barolo Parafada does a great job of portraying the brawny and muscular side of Serralunga d'Alba. But it does so with an elegant touch. Thick tannins wrap over the palate and the wine boasts very long persistence that is carried forward in thick waves of plump fruit and spice. Sweet blackberry, clove and cinnamon appears on the close. Barolo Parafada needs five years or more before it begins to shed some of that chunky baby fat.

Wine SpectatorA mix of ripe cherry, raspberry, plum, tobacco and tea aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this well-defined red. A stiff backbone of tannins and vivid acidity keeps this moving toward the lingering, earth-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2019 through 2032. 483 cases made.
