Carpineto Chianti Classico Riserva 2013
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Chianti Classico|
Wine SpectatorSmoky aromas introduce this succulent red, with flavors of black cherry, leather, earth and tar that show concentration and play off the vibrant structure. Drink now through 2028. 200,000 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe Carpineto 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva is a super-extracted wine to the point of being overdone and too heavy. This wine shows a dark and impenetrable appearance with inky black and dark garnet saturation. The bouquet reveals evolved notes of cured meat, dried cherry and wet terracotta. I'm not confident this wine will smooth out with more aging time in the cellar, but it could move in the right direction. I would suggest a near-term drinking window nonetheless. The blend is 80% Sangiovese and 20% other red grapes.
