Appearance: Medium ruby-brick color.
Aroma: It has an aromatic explosion of fine oak (vanilla, fine herb and spices), very mature fruit such as raisins, as well as caramel and subtle bottle aging sensations (leather and tobacco). These aromas become more intense and complex as the wine begins to breathe.
Flavor: On the palate the wine is perfectly assembled, full of velvet silkiness and finesse.
Pairings: Ideal with all types of grilled and roasted meats. It also pairs well with strong fish and all kinds of cured cheeses. Also exceptional paired with chocolate desserts and puddings.
Dried cherry, licorice, tobacco and tea flavors mingle in this maturing red. The texture is round and polished, with a light grip and bright, orange peel acidity. Harmonious and still vibrant. Drink now through 2018. 300 cases made.
Tobacco, mocha, lemony oak and red-fruit aromas comprise a good, traditional Rioja bouquet. The mouthfeel is pinched and raw, while herb, tomato and dried raspberry flavors carry the palate to an earthy, mossy conclusion. Drink this very good Rioja now through 2018.
The 2006 Fincas de la Villa Gran Reserva had a very young cork, as if it had been recorked. It's a classical, developed and tertiary Rioja with some notes of old oak, with a classical label and the golden wiring and everything. The palate is polished and light, with some tannins, moderate freshness and persistence. I'd drink this sooner rather than later. 40,000 bottles produced.
