DiamAndes Grande Reserve 2009
Wine SpectatorGood cut and length to the dried meat, roasted plum and brambly flavors. Smoke and spice accents linger with notes of fig paste on the finish. Drink now. 2,500 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe 2009 Gran Reserva is a blend of 75% Malbec and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and you feel it, since the Cabernet grapes have strong aromatics that tend to dominate in blends. Other than that, the wine is very oaky at the moment, which is not a good sign for a 2009. There's good fruit there, but the palate remains coated by edgy tannins, and whether the fruit will survive them remains a question mark to me. The wine was aged for 24 months in 75% new French oak. Drink 2015-2018.
