Casas del Bosque Reserva Carmenere 2014
|Brand||Casas del Bosque|
Wine SpectatorA well-structured and juicy style, with fresh-crushed red fruit flavors, accented by a deep well of savory herbal notes. Medium-grained tannins show on the spicy, mineral-filled finish. Drink now through 2019.
Wine AdvocateObviously, the 2014 Carménère Reserva is not from Casablanca, which is too cold for the grape, but from the Rapel Valley. It has a straightforward, fruit-driven nose with peppery and spicy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with soft, polished tannins and a little bit of chocolate flavors in the finish, which is also slightly warm.
Wine EnthusiastEarthy spicy black-fruit aromas come with toasty, almost caramelized oak scents. This is drawing on the palate, so much so that it feels collapsed. Wood-dominant flavors of herbal black plum, coffee and carob finish candied and dry, with grabby tannins.
