Rated 90 points Tim Atkin. Hard to beat for its sheer exuberance and gluggability, this is a brilliantly priced Argentinean Malbec with classic violet perfume, a touch of smoky oak and oodles of plum, blackberry and liquorice fruit. Made for a juicy steak, but this is smooth enough to work with spring lamb, too. –
Staff Comments: Darker shades of red and violet in the glass. Aromas of Bing cherry black berries and violets reach out and greet you with a sense of great things to come. Upfront fruit with notes of black cherry, black berries, fig and slight notes of toasted vanilla and hints of oak. Medium to full bodied with structured tannins. A true stand out Malbec!
Staff Comments: From Argentina and such an easy drinker! Huckleberries, dusted cocoa powder, hints of campfire, and black cherries. For the price, this could be your “Go to Malbec.” It’s light to medium bodied and drinking nicely now. We had this with smoked sausage gumbo and cotija cheese and it was great!

The varietal and clean 2018 Tonel 22 Malbec shows great purity of fruit, a nice balanced body with fine tannins and a refreshing finish. The oak is very subtle and adds some complexity, but it's very nicely folded into the fruit. It has moderate alcohol that makes it easy to drink, and it's very apt for the dining table. 65,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2019.
