James SucklingA dense and layered white with sliced cooked apples, mangoes and hints of dried lemons. Exotic undertones, too. Full-bodied, tight and focused with minerality and precision. Drink or hold.
Wine & SpiritsThis comes from a six-acre block in the Adrianna Vineyard, at elevations reaching 4,600 feet in Gualtallary. The soil is chalky, with a layer of sand, the wine translating the region’s heat into unctuous notes of white fruit. The acid structure is impressive, supporting the wine’s ripeness with tense freshness while the fruit flavors fill in every corner of the mouth. Today it’s a perfect white for a grilled halibut steak; with five years in the bottle, it will gain much more in complexity.
Wine AdvocateThe 2014 White Stones Chardonnay, sourced from the Adrianna vineyard in Gualtallary where the soils are rich in limestone, felt marginally riper than the 2013, with some yellow fruit, faint minty notes and a powerful mouthfeel with pungent flavors and great persistence. It finishes with a very tasty, almost salty finish. Some 1,600 bottles produced.
All sizes are 750ml unless otherwise stated.
