Cepa 21 Ribera del Duero Hito 2016 Bottle
|Region||Spain, Ribera del Duero|
Wine SpectatorA silkiness masks depth and density in this polished red. Cherry and berry flavors are ripe and juicy, backed by vanilla, spice and floral notes. Well-integrated tannins keep this focused through the toasty finish. Drink now through 2026. 29,166 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.
Wine AdvocateThe 2016 Hito is pure Tempranillo matured in oak barrels for eight months. It's ripe and a little heady, with balsamic and herbal aromas and is a touch minty, with an overall sweet sensation. The palate is medium-bodied with some dusty tannins. This is ideal for light foods or tapas. 2016 was a large crop and so was this bottling. A whopping 350,000 bottles were produced in 2016, up from 100,000 in 2015. It was bottled in August 2017.
Wine EnthusiastOak-based lactic aromas include graphite and pencil eraser notes along with heavy black fruit scents. This is big and a bit jumbled on the palate. Blackberry and black currant flavors are accompanied by pasty oak notes. On the finish, this is grabby but with cutting acidity.
All sizes are 750ml unless otherwise stated.
