Colour: Dark cherry red.

Nose: This Pinot Noir is generous on the nose, showing vibrant dark fruit aromas of boysenberries, mulberries and stewed doris plum layered with clove spice notes and hints of vanilla.

Palate: This Pinot Noir shows an impressive concentration of flavour. The wild ferment and extended lees maturation in barrel have added complexity and texture to the dark berry and plum characters found on the palate. The finish is dry with a nice touch of warming spices and subtle French oak.

Food Pairing: Rosemary and balsamic lamb steaks with roast beets with spinach and feta, or venison loin with caramelised red onion and tart berry compote.

This boasts chocolate-covered black cherry flavors that are juicy and plump, with clipped herb, fresh earth and oolong tea notes on a velvety frame. Drink now. 3,500 cases made, 1,800 cases imported.

Ripe red berries meet oak-derived mocha notes in the 2020 Pinot Noir (Marlborough), which is round and juicy, with plenty of supple fruit to get your mouth around. The fresh finish brings well-handled tannins that coat the palate, providing a sense of structure and sinew. This oak in this young example is a tad prominent and a little drying, but overall, the wine offers plenty of substance and stuffing for the price.

Like in previous vintages, this Pinot is showing a lot of reduction. The barnyard-like overlay doesn't blow off quickly, but it isn't entirely obscuring the plump cherry fruit and woodsy spice. Oak-derived notes of oatmeal and cola are also prominent. The palate sits heavily with grainy, astringent tannins and fairly clunky oak. This may harmonize with time in the bottle, but it's not currently at its best.
