Crooked Stave Lakeview Lager
This beer pours a light gold with an almost non-existent head (granted I pour these cold). The slight sweet note and maltiness that one would expect is present on the nose. The sip is beautiful and crisp. I let it warm a bit in my mouth and it really reminds of my months in central Europe. It's hard to explain; at a nice cold temp this is the kind of beer you would throw to the back of your throat like any other commodity beer. However, when you actually take a moment to explore it you get so much more: sweet, earth, some salinity, and a bright lemon note that hides within its depths. What lingers on the palate after the sip is something that I would call pithy; bitter yet bright. This is a great beer because both beer crushers and beer nerds will have something to love about it. I could do a six pack in an hour or a can for the night and I'd be happy. Review by James Fisher
