Somm Aaron's notes: Rais Baixas is an area that borders north Portugal and Spain. It is 4 inlets that come in off the rocky coastline. This Area is known for their fishing and extraordinary seafood. It also has beautiful estuaries as you travel inland. You’ll also find some amazing wineries and vineyards as you get further inland. They produce very nice white wines in this area. One of which is Albarino. The wine I am spotlighting here is a new one to me, as I just recently was able to try it. As we pour it into the glass it has reflections of summer grass and golden highlights. The aromas immediately release citrus notes with touches of lemon, grapefruit, green apple and pear. Just the perfect hint of floral notes. That first sip is bright and fruit forward. It shows green apple, Pear and pineapple as it evolves into melon and tropical fruit. The body is medium and seems to coat the palate but not suffocate the senses. It leaves a hint of flint and lemon curd on the finish. Perfect wine to pair with grilled seafood or pasta. I had a grilled dover soul with Orzo and sauteed spinach. Yummmy!!!!
