2020 Vintage James Suckling: 98 Points

Aromas of blackberries, red and black currants. Green olives, too. Dark roses and perfume. Medium-bodied with super crunchy energy and brightness. Very fine tannins. Elegant and precise. So subtle and complex, it’s really something. A blend of 64% merlot and 36% cabernet sauvignon. Needs four to five years to open and come together.

Vinous: 94 Points

The 2020 The Flight is classy and polished from the very first taste. Aromatic and understated, the 2020 offers a distinct feeling of classicism in its mid-weight structure. Crushed flowers, herbs, and spice lead into a core of red/purplish fruit.

2016 Vintage

James Suckling: 99 Points

This is the best Flight I have ever had with so much merlot character coming through with black olives, hazelnuts, brown sugar and blackberries, as well as violets. Full-bodied yet linear and very long. Extremely refined and fresh. Needs a few years to come completely together, but already so refined.

Wine Advocate: 97 Points

Composed roughly of two-thirds Merlot with 5% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the medium to deep colored 2016 The Flight opens with bold, expressive notions of wild blueberries, warm plums and boysenberries with touches of black raspberries, spice cake, violets, dark chocolate and potpourri with a hint of menthol. Full-bodied, rich, spicy and jam-packed with energy, it has beautifully plush tannins texturing the multilayered blue and black fruits, delivering a very long, perfumed finish.

Decanter: 96 Points

A deep ruby-purple color, this has a rich, precise, dusty plum and cassis character. The floral lift and subtle clove-coriander oak gives some complexity, even at this early stage. Though fairly full-bodied with a velvet-textured array of firm tannins, its bright acidity gives lift and elegance to the palate. Very finely-crafted, with a long, aromatic finish.

Jeb Dunnuck: 96 Points

The 2016 The Flight is another beauty, and it's slightly more elegant and balanced, as well as pure, than the 2015. A blend of 66% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc, this vibrant purple-colored effort offers a huge perfume of blue fruits, violets, and incense that develops with time in the glass. It's medium to full-bodied, seamless, and incredibly elegant, yet has depth, intensity, and length.
