Dry Creek Fume Blanc 2018
|Region||California, Sonoma County|
This wine was given no time in oak and made entirely from grapes grown in Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys. It is lively, tart and fresh. Balanced flavors of lemon peel, lime and peach mingle around an earthy tease of fresh-cut grass.
Wine Review Online
This charming, dry white wine, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, has been a success ever since Dry Creek released its first vintage in 1972. The word “Fumé” is a reference to the Loire Valley’s Pouilly-Fumé, which it resembles far more than a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. With no grassy or asparagus notes, Dry Creek’s Fumé offers traces of grapefruit, lime and peeled apple along with chalky minerality. There is plenty of tension in this crystalline wine, and plenty of length as well.
