J. Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Wine Review OnlineSerious value for your dollar is what the J. Lohr estates line is all about, and once again the Seven Oaks leads the way, with solid Paso Robles character and a pleasure factor that far exceeds its moderate price. Juicy red and black fruit, sweet oak spice and some tannic backbone keep everything going well after the liquid disappears. This is available just about everywhere, and it's one of my go-to on travel bottles.
Wine EnthusiastBlack cherry, smoke and a hint of caramel make for a very familiar and satisfying nose on this well-priced bottling. There is a deep core of black currant fruit, with chalky tannins, a dense mouthfeel and abundant acidity that drives into the finish.
Wine AdvocateThe 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Seven Oaks offers up attractive aromas of ripe berry fruit, dark chocolate and subtle new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and open-knit, with an ample and generous core of sweet fruit taking center stage, framed by light structuring tannins. It's an accessible, user-friendly Cabernet Sauvignon that's best drunk in its youth.
