Castello di Querceto Chianti Classico Riserva 2011
|Brand||Castello di Querceto|
Wine AdvocateVintner Alessandro François' 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva presents a modern and plump style with loads of soft layering and cushions of fruity intensity. Leather, spice, tobacco and blackberry make up the various layers of this beautifully integrated wine. It shows dense extraction and very good length. This is a delicious wine with Sangiovese showing very well from the steep upper vineyards of Greve in Chianti.
Wine EnthusiastSubdued aromas of underbrush, toast, truffle and ripe black-skinned fruit emerge in the glass. The forward palate offers raisin, dried black cherry, espresso and oak-driven spice alongside dusty tannins that leave a drying, astringent finish. Drink sooner rather than later before the remaining fruit dries up.
Wine SpectatorPlum, cherry, coffee and underbrush flavors butt up against stiff tannins, leaving this balanced on the astringent side. Drink now through 2018. 8,500 cases made.
