Château-Tour-Prignac Medoc 2014
Wine EnthusiastThis 16th century chateau with towers is in the northern Médoc. The wine is spicy with the wood aging still showing. At the same time, the ripe black-currant fruit is developing well and as it ages further, the wine will become finely balanced. With 60% Cabernet in the blend, this is a wine for the long term. Drink from 2019.
Wine SpectatorThis has a good core of dark currant and bitter plum fruit, underscored by a warm charcoal note. Ends with bay and tobacco accents. Drink now through 2020. 50,000 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe 2014 La Tour Prignac was missing the fruit concentration on the nose compared to its peers, perhaps rather dull in comparison. The palate is too oaky on the entry, a sweet 'n sour Cru Bourgeois that needs to demonstrate more freshness and frankly, less "winemaking" on the finish. Tasted September 2016.
