Hess Allomi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
James SucklingBlackberry, blueberry and floral undertones follow through to a full body, chewy tannins and a juicy finish. A little disjointed now. Needs to come together. Drink in 2019.
Whisky AdvocateBlended of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon with dollops of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Allomi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon offers up notions of crème de cassis, mocha and cigar boxes with touches of tilled soil and charcoal plus a hint of menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals some spicy nuances accenting the rich, generous fruit, framed by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a minted blackcurrant note.
Wine & SpiritsDark and rooty at first, this shifts toward more delicate notes of cherries and deeper blueberry flavors as it opens with air. It still carries some vegetal tones in the tannins, like the skin of roasted eggplant. Pour it with lamb kebabs and ratatouille.
