Yangarra Shiraz 2014
|Region||Australia, South Australia, McLaren Vale|
James SucklingDense and layered shiraz with loads of ripe fruit, yet remains vivid and lively. Full body, velvety tannins and a long, savory finish.
Wine EnthusiastYangarra’s Shiraz offers amazing complexity for the price. While it starts a little reductively, it opens after a short time in glass and out pours aromas of drying plums, tangerine, Kalamata olives, savory spices and warm earthy mineral nuances. The palate is precise and highly textural with talclike tannins and a mouthfeel that seems as though you could crunch the wine like an apple rather than sip it. Drink now until 2027.
Wine Spectator Plum, mineral and toffee notes mingle with toasted cumin and black tea accents. Thick and chewy on the finish. Appealing for the intensity and long finish. Drink now through 2027. 7,830 cases made.
Wine AdvocateMedium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Shiraz has a bit of a tarry / rubbery nose to begin, giving way to a baked black cherries and blueberry core with suggestions of cracked pepper and chargrill. Medium to full-bodied, it leads with a chewy structure on the palate with nice savory and spice elements complementing the ripe fruit, finishing long.
