Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Shiraz 2016
|Region||Australia, South Australia, Clare Valley|
Wine SpectatorDetailed, with an appealing precision to the mineral-laced plum, black cherry and date flavors. Spice and black tea notes linger on the finish. The tannins are dense but polished. Drink now through 2035.
Wine EnthusiastA sturdy wine showcasing Clare Valley's comparatively cool climes in the form of raspberry, cola, chocolate, and spicy, peppery oak characters. A lifted line of acidity makes the fruit feel juicy but there's simultaneously something heavy about the oak and tannin profile, like a thick blanket over the tongue, that weighs the wine down. Overall, a solid if not overly characterful wintery red.
