|Region||New Zealand, Marlborough|
Lime sherbet, grapefruit and passionfruit flavors are succulent and juicy, with details of lemon verbena that reverberate on the finish. Drink now. 55,000 cases made, 55,000 cases imported.
The 2018 Mohua Sauvignon Blanc was sourced from Marlborough. It's a classically scented, tropical expression, with passion fruit and gooseberry notes, hints of pineapple and a minimum of pungent, herbal notes. Drink it over the next year or two.
This Sauvignon is a little reductive and oniony at first but it's also highly perfumed and floral, with lime leaf and blossoms alongside peach and lychee fruit. The palate, however, doesn't hold together as well; 2018 made for an even trickier vintage than 2017, thanks mainly to the presence of two ex-tropical cyclones right at harvest. It's slightly spritzy with bracing acidity and fruit that veers on the sour side, feeling a little overworked and underripe.
All sizes are 750ml unless otherwise stated.
