To preserve fruit conditions, grapes were picked under lights each morning, followed by hand-sorting before being gravity fed to tank for a long natural fermentation using an overall average of 22% whole clusters in the final blend. Regular punch downs produced a textured wine with elegant structure and a Freestone spice characteristic that is distinctive to this region of the western Sonoma Coast. The 2014 Pinot Noir showcases aromatic red fruit, fragrant violet and savory spices. Fresh and focused on the palate with concentrated red raspberry and cherry, currant, baking spices and a hint of smoked meat. Nicely textured with firm acidity and a lingering finish.

Wine AdvocateMedium ruby-purple in color, the 2016 Pinot Noir Freestone Vineyard leaps from the glass with an intense perfume of violets, redcurrants and black cherries with hints of black pepper, lavender, cinnamon stick and black tea. The palate is medium-bodied and very elegant yet wonderfully intense with a firm frame of fine-grained tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long and fragrant. 3,015 cases produced.
