The Château de Pez estate covers more than 26 hectares. The wines are left to ferment in traditional oak vats before being blended, and left to develop for a period of 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, 40 percent of them new.
93-95. Barrel Sample. This is a ripe, bold wine, with great tannins and just the right amount of richness. A juicy core gives the wine life and vibrancy, countering the firm structure. It's a wine for long-term aging.
This has a mix of red currant, dark plum and bitter cherry fruit flavors giving nice range from the start, while light tobacco, iron and singed alder notes check in as well. The taut finish has pebbly tannins and solid length. Cellar to let this unwind. Best from 2023 through 2033. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
All sizes are 750ml unless otherwise stated.
