It is with overflowing gratitude that we announce we have won Readers' Choice for Best Liquor Store as part of Westword's annual Best of Denver awards. This isn't just a win for us, but a continuation of our legacy as we celebrate the seventh consecutive year of receiving this honor. This milestone is not just a testament to our store, but also a reflection on the amazing, continued support from our community.

Our Mutual Friend / Cohesion - Polo - Czech style amber lager
This is a good team-up between two excellent local breweries, and the result is an excellent representation of a classic style! The beer pours a translucent, deep amber color with a small, foamy tan head. The nose is malty with roasted, bready malts, backed by lager yeast esters and a light fruity character that slightly resembles aromas of pear. The body and carbonation both sit at a medium level, yet the beer has a slightly smooth mouth feel and still finishes somewhat crisp. On the palate, you get that same pear-like fruity character up front, but it drops off quickly into nice flavors of roasted malts and notes of lager yeast. The lager yeast notes continue into the finish along with some very light caramel and just a touch of bitterness to round the beer out. Review by Dan Chacon

Monkless - Four Devils - Belgian style golden strong ale
Today we'll be taking a look at a new take on a classic Belgian style from the folks at Monkless Belgian Ales, Four Devils Belgian style golden strong ale! This beer pours with a foamy white head and a distinct golden color with good clarity. The scent is bold! You get a lightly sweet grain bill on the nose with warming baking spices drawing you in. The first sip pays homage to the expert brewers of the past. It starts with an excellent grainy backbone, highlighted by notes of pineapple and banana, and finishes dry with those notes of baking spice found on the nose. This is a fantastic Belgian style ale that can stand with the greats, learning all the expertise of the past and applying it to a lovely modern brew. Review by Jon Blankenship

Fat Orange Cat - Stay at Home Dad With No Kids - New England style hazy IPA
Fat Orange Cat are producing some of the better IPAs that are coming out of the Twelve Percent Beer Collective, and this beer is a great and approachable little hazy. It pours a flat, yellow-orange color with a medium-sized, dense and foamy, white head. Tangerine aromas dominate the nose at first, but then taper off into aromas of melon, grainy malts, lightly dank hops, and an interesting hint of spearmint on the tail end. The beer has a medium weight body with a medium-light carbonation level, which translates into a smooth mouth feel. On the palate, you get notes of peach and melon up front, followed by grainy malts on the mid-palate. The melon notes continue into the finish where the slightly dank and mildly bitter hops finally surface. Review by Dan Chacon

Avery - Cool Summer - flavored kettle sour
Today we'll be taking a look at an instant summer essential from Avery Brewing, the Cool Summer sour ale! This beer pours with a thick pink head and a deep red color, with good clarity, in the glass. The scent is fresh with a strong influence from the cucumber and light floral notes on the nose. The first sip is incredibly refreshing! You get crisp cucumber flowing into a mildly sharp sour body and finishing with a complementary floral hibiscus finish. This is a great sour that is a perfect addition to any summer outing, and a must-have for those warm sunny days! Review by Jon Blankenship

New Image / Primitive - Sugar Moon - Belgian style barleywine
Here we have another excellent team-up of two more great Colorado breweries in the form of a Belgian-style barleywine. It pours a murky mahogany color with a medium-sized, foamy, light brown head. Aromas of dates, light tobacco, and Belgian yeast esters comprise the nose along with some accents of maple and bubblegum. It has a medium-heavy body with a medium-light carbonation, giving the beer a somewhat heavy consistency. Rasin and date flavors hit your tongue up front, followed by some light tobacco and panela sugar notes mid-palate. A light citrusy character comes through towards the finish before rounding out into the familiar Belgian yeast flavor. Review by Dan Chacon

Boulevard / Toppling Goliath - Elusive Thunder - hazy imperial IPA
Today we'll be taking a look at a spectacular IPA collaboration between Boulevard Brewing and Toppling Goliath, Elusive Thunder, a super hazy IPA! This beer pours with a fluffy off-white head, a hazy golden orange color, and a smooth carbonation in the glass. The scent is overflowing with ripe citrus and tropical fruits, giving it a slightly sharp, decadent profile. The first sip is full of the acidic and sweet citrus that the nose provides before evolving into a smooth mango taste and texture that's like biting into a ripe mango. This is a fantastic, summer ready, IPA from two breweries that really know their craft. So, grab a pack (or two) and break out the sunscreen, it's time for some well-earned relaxation. Here is yet another collaboration beer that we did with Upslope Brewing Company which we recently received in the store!
This unique bottle is a collaboration with Argonaut Wine & Liquor, who provided the barrels for this project, which formerly held some of the most coveted bourbons in the world. A colossal imperial stout was held in these casks for two years to take on all of the complexities of the oak and the former liquid that was held within the barrels. The palate delivers waves of bittersweet chocolate, candied almonds, and dark maple syrup that finishes with a full body followed by a warming exhale. 18.6% abv

Both of these Argonaut collaboration beers are now on sale at a great price! So, pick some up before they’re gone forever!
