The 2016 vintage of Mayacamas Chardonnay - our team's fourth as winemakers - continues the legacy of fresh and powerful mountain chardonnay. Aromas of Meyer lemon, river rock, vanilla bean, and honeysuckle highlight the nose. On the palate, the wine strikes a balance of richness and focus - mouthwatering acidity and flinty minerality lead into flavors of lemon curd, almond and passion fruit.
My favorite end to a meal is cheese and ages white Burgundy. That isn't always possible, so we get as close as possible. the cheeses are delicious, while the 2021 Mayacamas Chardonnay is wonderfully expressive (but naturally very young), especially with some air.
The 2021 Chardonnay is made in a crisp, restrained style, spending 12 months in a mix of different barrels, up to 500 liters in volume. Less than 10% are new, and malolactic fermentation is blocked to retain freshness. Melon, pear and citrus notes come through on the nose and medium-bodied palate, while the finish is moderately silky in texture yet zesty, powered by bright lemon-lime notes.
Features a fresh mix of Meyer lemon, pomelo and pear flavors at the core, with terrific structure, vibrancy and intensity. Juicy finish, where lemon thyme oil and mineral notes linger. Drink now through 2034. 1,985 cases made.
All sizes are 750ml unless otherwise stated.
