Michel Gassier Nostre Pais Blanc 2017
|Region||France, Rhone, Costières de Nimes|
The pale yellow color tinted in green announces a wine with a great deal of freshness and purity. The complex nose reveals floral and mineral notes with accents of fresh citrus fruits. On the palate lively and fresh, the aromas of flowers and white fruits, blends with flint. The very soft finish evinces a great deal of minerality.
Pairs well with vacherin, beaufort and fresh goat cheeses, capon, rabbit and chicken, rockfish, halibut, shrimp, apricots, leeks and pumpkins.
As always, the 2017 Costières de Nîmes Nostre Païs shines for its purity and finesse. Made from 45% Grenache Blanc, 30% Roussanne, and the rest Clairette, Viognier, and Bourboulenc, it offers abundant notes of white peaches, orange zest, and honeysuckle. With medium body, a bright, vibrant, balanced texture, and building richness, it's going to be versatile on the dinner table and drink nicely for 3-4 years, possibly longer.
A blend of five regional white-grape varieties, this opulent dry wine juxtaposes crisp tangerine and lemon flavors against layers of smoke, spice and toasted oak. It's enjoyable now for its concentrated fresh fruit, but structured enough to hold through 2024.
All sizes are 750ml unless otherwise stated.
