Shows a core of fleshy black cherry and plum flavors, with black licorice, dried thyme and gunpowder tea details, tannins firming nicely on the finish. Drink now. 6,000 cases made, 750 cases imported.
Red berry, cedar, and a campfire smoke note open on this straightforward Otago Pinot. The palate is medium weight, with nicely textured tannins, tart cherry flavors and an oak spice. Tannins veer astringent at the finish.
From the Acolade stable, this is one of the more affordable Pinot Noirs you'll find from Central Otago. It is fruit-filled with some nice flesh and weight on the midpalate, offering fragrant black cherry and wild raspberry fruit. There's a frim grip of chunky tannin on the savory finish, which is drying. A little wanting in the concentration and length department. I guess you get what you pay for.
Mud House's 2019 Pinot Noir offers up scents of resinous herbs (rosemary?) on the nose, layered over plum and cherry fruit. It's medium-bodied, with a decent amount of silky texture to it and a slightly dusty finish. No, it's nothing spectacular, but it represents a decent value in Pinot Noir.
All sizes are 750ml unless otherwise stated.
