This wine delivers the richness and grace of this famed hillside. Cultivated from 30+-year-old vines, it offers notes of ripe citrus, fresh apple skin, orange blossom and almond. There's also a beautiful overlay of white lilies and baby's breath, framed by warm baking spices. Cellar through 2030 and beyond.

This has attractive notes of wet chalk with bread dough and a swathe of ripe peaches. Nuances of citrus, too. The palate has great weight and depth with a very assertive, long and seamless drive. Classic Corton power here. Wow! Drink or hold.

A broad and lush white, with flavors of peach, lemon oil, sweet corn and spiced apple married to a texture verging on oily. Lively, with acidity keeping this well-defined and long on the finish. Best from 2024 through 2033.

Generous but not dominant wood sets off the cool yet ever-so-mildly exotic aromas of lychee, melon, freshly sliced green apple, floral and lemon rind. The larger-scaled flavors are succulent to the point of opulence thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract that coats the palate on the powerful, stony and serious finale. This is very backward at present and will need at least a decade to reveal its full, and considerable, potential. Barrel Sample: 91-94

Nobody owns more Corton-Charlemagne than Louis Latour, whose ten parcels are spread across 9.95ha in Ladoix and Pernand-Vergelesses. This is a textbook interpretation of the grand cru in a vintage which has produced some impressive wines across the appellation. It's spicy, plush and powerful, with some white pepper notes, vivid acidity and sweet, toasty oak. Drinking Window 2020 - 2025

The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is also quite promising, exhibiting aromas of pear, buttered citrus fruit, honeycomb, toasted almonds and white flowers. Full-bodied, satiny and rich, with a fleshy core of fruit and good underlying freshness, I hope it can repeat this fine performance from bottle.
